Lauren Lofthus and Burning Rock Radio

Lauren Lofhus with a Sleepy Monk Coffee Espresso Blend ready to present Burning Rock Radio

About the Book/Podcast: Late one night in the deepest, darkest part of January, Ivy Romeo sits alone in a college radio studio, playing music and talking out into the void to anyone who might still be listening. She’s about to wrap her show and head home for the night when she happens to look out the window and see a face—a face that has haunted her family’s dreams for years.

Only days after arriving in the slightly creepy coastal college town of Burning Rock, Ivy begins experiencing vivid dreams about malevolent ghostly figures and something else—something ancient and all-consuming living beneath the troubled ocean waves. It isn’t long before those dreams begin to bleed into her waking life.

At first, Ivy is determined to ignore it, but when her best friend disappears, Ivy realizes she’s going to have to put her own sanity on the line if she wants to find Sam and save her town.

About the Beverage: Lauren recommends pairing BURNING ROCK RADIO with a Sleepy Monk Coffee Espresso Blend becausemost of my characters drink coffee. When you live somewhere as cold and rainy and generally mysterious as the Pacific Northwest, you’re going to want coffee all the time. Some of my favorite coffee in the world comes from Sleepy Monk Coffee in Cannon Beach, Oregon. They’ve got a great shop down there, where I wrote part of Burning Rock Radio. Honestly, if I could do the whole show from there, I would.”

About the Author: Lauren has lived in the Pacific Northwest her whole life, and she knew from an early age that she wanted to tell stories about her corner of the world. Lauren spends her free time reading on her porch and pretending that the sound of I-5 is actually the sound of the roaring ocean.
