About the Author: Melody Kelly is a former elementary school teacher with a passion for children's literature. Her first book, TEACHING FROM THE HEART, detailed her key takeaways from over a decade spent in the classroom.
“I wrote Teaching from the Heart as a love letter to the profession I was leaving. I found myself a bit lost after I stopped teaching. I’d lived by a school schedule in some form most of my life, and it was hard to let go. One day I decided to sit down and write what I believed to be the essence of good teaching--the main principles I had taken away from my time as a teacher. It was supposed to be for me, but when I was done, I realized I wished someone had told me those things when I stepped into my first classroom.”
Today she is happy to spend her time writing her own stories for children. Some of Melody’s first memories are of her mom reading to her, and she has been reading, writing, and telling stories ever since. When she is not reading or writing, you can find her in the garden, playing with her pup, Apollo, a loveable, goofy German Shepherd, or traveling.
