About the Book: The book tells the story of Connor, who has dreamt of horrible machines ever since he was a child. Years of nightmares have left the young inventor clinging desperately to his unravelling sanity, but the worst part is the gnawing certainty he could build those mechanical terrors, no matter how impossible they might seem. Everything changes when his dreams reveal a new machine, a miraculous device that brings hope instead of terror, and could save humanity from the many threats facing our modern world. Connor sets to work immediately, desperate to know once and for all if the visions haunting him are merely bad dreams or something far more sinister. As the machine takes shape and forces Connor to question everything he thought he knew, unseen forces begin circling. About the Beverage: Kyle recommends pairing THE NIGHTMARE SCHEMATIC with “A Howick Hall. I made mine with D'Usse VSOP cognac and bergamot syrup made from Twinings Earl Grey Tea. For those who prefer something non-alcoholic, the Earl Grey works well on its own. Both tea and strong alcohol feature in the story, so it was a natural choice. The strong, intricate, somewhat harsh flavour made me think of the different parts of a machine coming together to make a unified whole, something I hope my book does as well.”
About the Author: Kyle is a lifelong lover of science fiction and fantasy, and he’s been creating worlds and telling stories since he learned to talk. As Kyle has grown up, the worlds and stories have grown more complex, but his enthusiasm for creating new things has stayed the same. He’ll talk your ear off about any number of subjects if you give him the chance. Kyle lives in Ottawa, Canada with his wife Kelsey, and enjoys playing games of all kinds when he’s not working on a project. Besides fiction, Kyle writes and edits material for tabletop roleplaying and miniatures games.
