About the Book: Since Jane was five years old, she knew she was different. She didn’t understand why her father always said she was special like her late mother, until the day he died. With overwhelming grief over the loss of her father, Jane realized she could move objects with her mind. Repulsed by Jane’s magical ability, Jane’s stepmother, Marie, forces her into a life of servitude. Jane must complete her chores, cater to Marie and her children, and above all else, suppress her magical ability.    

For 11 years, Jane endures her hard and lonely life, until a startling encounter changes her world. Dr. Oliver Tweedle, who claims to have known Jane’s mother, tells Jane she is a pixie. He invites her to attend the Jelf Academy of Magic, a school where her mother acquired an education. Eager to learn magic and more about the mother she lost as an infant, Jane accepts his offer to attend.    

Jane is swept up in a magical world full of new experiences: friends, fun, and some freedom. However, things in the pixie world may not be as wonderful as they seem. Despite finally finding others who have magical abilities, Jane is still not “normal” because her father was human. The pixie government doesn’t believe Jane is qualified to attend the Jelf Academy because she isn’t a full-blooded pixie.

If Jane cannot convince them of her magical abilities, she will be expelled from, not only the academy, but also the pixie world forever. Jane must learn to navigate her new world and find a way to prove she belongs at the Jelf Academy before she is banished from the one place she feels she belongs.

About the Author: Jenna E. Faas is the author of Pixie Dust, the first book in the Jelf Academy Series. She lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with her husband, son, and two Australian shepherds. From the very first time Jenna turned the pages of a book, she was obsessed. As a young girl, she always made up stories, which she jotted down in school notebooks. An avid reader, she would get lost in fantasy and wished magic existed. Jenna began the concept of Pixie Dust when she was seventeen and expanded her creation of the world through her college years. Her bachelor’s degree in Geology helped inspire pixie magic since gemstones and minerals are the ingredients to create pixie charms.
