Elizabeth Moore Kraus and 3 Sisters 3 Weeks 3 Countries (Still Talking)
About the Book: Blithely venturing off on their first ever trip together, the Moore sisters travel to Ireland, England, and Scotland. Embarking with visions of fun, they realize to quickly that reality sets in. One sister learns she must accept her internal GPS is now untrustworthy. Another reveals a major mistake in time management. The third volunteers as 'Fixer of All Things'--a position open as the others lack interest. What can not be fixed is the chronic lack of elevators and a discouraging abundance of stairs, bringing about ups and downs of all sorts. Yet the Moore sisters laugh when they are down. Well, most of the time.
About the Beverage: Elizabeth recommends pairing her novel with a Hurricane cocktail because “First, together or separately, the three Moore sisters don't care one bit for the wind--not at all! Yet, ironically, we can be like the wind--on different levels. We can be breezy, be a bit of a gust, or even a force of nature, "rocking it like a hurricane." Second, on our trip we experienced varying levels of wind, unfortunately, which included some mighty fierce winds, particularly in Scotland. There we were knocked about, hard, like a hurricane, well, ok, it sure seemed like it. (Our hair sure took a beating.) Cheers!”
Her recipe includes “Bacardi Superior light and Myers's Jamaican, original dark. Add freshly squeezed lime and orange juice, passion fruit puree, simple syrup and grenadine. Garnish with orange half-wheel and cherry.”
About the Author: A late-bloomer, Elizabeth "Liz" Moore Kraus enrolled in college at forty-two. She earned her M.A. in English Literature six years later. After a much beloved teaching career of twenty years, she retired from Ventura College in 2019. During Liz's many travels, she has kept journals, all becoming placeholders in her bookcase. This changed when Liz used her most recent journal and wrote her debut book. Although it's a memoir, Liz describes her book as one that "disrupts the memoir genre" as it contains more humor versus the common theme of rising up from the ashes. Liz resides in Ventura with her husband Dave and Golden Retriever Sullivan "Sully" James.
