Andrea Couture and Embracing What Remains: A Memoir

Embracing What Remains: A Memoir paired with a glass of red wine from The Prisoner

About the Book: Embracing What Remains is a memoir about a father and a daughter. Richard is a retired surgeon who is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at age 67 and his daughter, Andrea, struggles to accept and process this new fate. Andrea learns how to balance motherhood with daughterhood and embrace a new relationship with a father that is slowly slipping away.

About the Beverage: Andrea says that “wine was an essential part of my family history/memories as well as my Italian heritage. My father loved red wine and was a fan of The Prisoner wine. One of our last memories shopping together was buying this wine for our family Christmas celebration in 2017. He and I had many amazing conversations over a glass of wine and it will always remind me of him and his infinite wisdom.

About the Author: Andrea Couture is an author and mother of three children. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Saint Michael’s College in Vermont. Embracing What Remains is Andrea’s first memoir and book. She lives in New Hampshire with her husband, children, and her dog. Andrea is a member of the AlzAuthors with the mission: “We are a community of authors sharing Alzheimer’s and dementia stories to light the way for others.”
